BANYAK cara untuk mengurangi kebiasaan merokok. Salah satunya mengunyah permen nikotin.

Tobacco - The World's #1 Killer Substance!
TOBACCO is one of the few legal substances available in stores as a consumer product, that will kill or harm when used as intended. It is the #1 killer over-the-counter drug the world has ever seen. Why is it we believe there’s enjoyment in something that is literally killing millions of people every year.
Tobacco should be classified as a crime against humanity!
Believe me..
no other consumer product in the history of the world has even come close to inflicting this amount of damage on mankind. If anything else of this magnitude was to pose the same threat to life, whether it was human induced or naturally occurring – be it war, terrorist attack, genocide, ethnic cleansing, natural disaster or disease, it would as a rule command immediate international intervention! Think about the current ‘war on terror’. So why isn’t it?
You would have learnt how to smoke from that very first cigarette, as you most certainly practised the draw-back and other styles of smoking until you finally achieved that great smokers status.
If you were born to be a smoker then maybe your nose would be upside down (like a chimney) with a little umbrella over it to keep the rain out! Firemen wouldn’t need any breathing apparatus.
Seriously now, you wouldn’t pour toxic chemicals in to the fuel tank of your car, truck, motor home or bike – would you? So why is it we can suck in over 4000 toxic chemicals with every cigarette and not really think anything of it (until it’s too late). Your life has got to be more valuable than your car or truck.
There are dozens of what I call 'Smoker Myths' associated with nicotineaddiction, some of them are like this....
* Myth#1. "I enjoy smoking, it makes me feel good" ever said something like that, or what about….
* Myth#2. "I really enjoy the flavour of tobacco" are you kidding me!!!(Dog vomit would taste better)
* Myth#3. "I'm just soooo stressed out, I need a cigarette"
These Smoker Myths become apart of the smoking culture or belief system. How many times do you think a non-smoker would make these statements?
NEVER!!
I take enormous pleasure at being a non-smoker (normal) and I’m proud of it. You don’t lose anything when you quit smoking, as a matter of fact you gain life, health and money. Did you know that you can quit smoking anytime you choose to?
So How Do You Quit Smoking?
You simply LEARN NOT TO SMOKE, or you simply LEARN to think as a non-smoker "easy for you", you might be saying but the truth is just that EASY! Remember, you learnt to use tobacco in the first place – right! I know that are thinking that “this sounds too simple” and you’re right, except it took me over 20 years to work it out!
Hi my name is Colin Williams and I passionately want to teach you how to destroy the nicotine addiction… forever. I was addicted to nicotine for 35 years. I lost count of how many times I tried to quit smoking. So I know where you’re at and I know how you think as a smoker or tobacco user.
That’s why I can teach you about….
* Your Body...the health issues and scientific information you need to know.
* Your Victory... know your enemy and how to kill the world’s greatest deception.
* Your Bank...the $$$ cost of smoking to you, and who's making the profit?
* Your Past...how to bury the memory.
The bottom line is this – the nicotine addiction IS NOT your friend, it's a lying parasite that basically wants to kill you. Maybe you should kill it first.

Tobacco packages must display pictorial warnings
Veronica Riemer: Grisly, shocking pictures of a bleeding brain is probably not what you would expect to see on a consumer product. But that is what WHO is urging governments to put on packs of tobacco products. In this episode, we discuss why.
Veronica Riemer: Pick up...
a pack of tobacco product, and typically it tells you nothing about the true character of the deadly product within: that it causes cancer, strokes, and heart and lung disease. Tobacco products kill more than 5 million people every year. It also makes sick and disfigures many more people.
Tobacco companies invest a fortune to make the packaging of tobacco products attractive to customers. Some countries have passed laws requiring tobacco companies to put health warnings on the packs, but they are mostly limited to barely visible text.
On World No Tobacco Day this year, WHO is urging that governments require tobacco companies to put pictures on the packs to make people aware of the sickness and suffering caused by tobacco use. Susy Mercado, Regional Adviser for the Tobacco Free Initiative in WHO's Regional office for the Western Pacific, tells us why.
Susy Mercado: Many people still do not really know the effects of tobacco use. Our work in the region has shown that many people and many policy-makers really do not know what the hazards are. And having pictorial warnings on packages is a good way of transmitting that message of danger and harm to the users of the product.
Veronica Riemer: Canada was the first country to pass laws in 2001 requiring pictorial warnings on tobacco packets. Twenty other countries have so far passed similar laws. Some of the pictures used in these countries are not without controversy. For example, a tobacco health warning in Singapore shows a blackened and sore-pocked gangrenous foot. Another in Australia shows a brain bleeding because of stroke. Some people object to the shocking and repellent nature of the pictures, but the evidence shows they work. Douglas Bettcher, Director of WHO's Tobacco Free Initiative, explains.
Douglas Bettcher: Country after country shows that these pictorial warnings help to communicate health risks much better. We know for example that in Brazil more than half of smokers changed their opinion on the health consequences of smoking as a result of the warnings. Also, the warnings convince smokers to quit or cut down on their levels of smoking. For example, more than a quarter of smokers in Singapore said that they consume fewer cigarettes as a result of the warnings. In Canada, more than a quarter of smokers smoke less inside their home as a result of the warnings because of the greater awareness of the devastating health harms that can also be wrought upon innocent bystanders who don't smoke themselves.
Veronica Riemer: More than 160 countries have signed up to the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control. Article 11 of this international treaty requires the countries to put health warnings on tobacco products. Pekka Puska, President of the World Heart Federation and head of Finland's National Public Health Institute, says that pictorial warnings are an important element of any sound tobacco control strategy.
Pekka Puska: We have to undertake comprehensive work. We need health education. We need legislation. We need smoking cessation activities. Actually, we need the different components that are outlined in the Framework Convention on Tobacco Control. But the warnings in the packages, of course, are a basic element because the warnings are for smokers when they get the package. But, as I said, this is no magic bullet, but this is just one of the many steps we are taking.
Veronica Riemer: If you would like to learn more about World No Tobacco day or the WHO Tobacco Free Initiative, there are links to related information on the transcript page of this podcast episode.

Cancer Prevention
At least one-third of all cancer cases are preventable. Prevention offers the most cost-effective long-term strategy for the control of cancer.
Tobacco is the single largest preventable cause of cancer in the world today. It causes 80-90% of all lung cancer deaths, and about 30% of all cancer deaths in developing countries, including deaths from cancer of the oral cavity, larynx, oesophagus and stomach. A comprehensive strategy including bans on tobacco advertising and sponsorship, tax increases on
tobacco products, and cessation programmes can reduce tobacco consumption in many countries. The WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control, adopted in May 2003, aims to curb tobacco-related deaths and disease.
- Tobacco Free Initiative
Dietary modification is another important approach to cancer control. There is a link between overweight and obesity to many types of cancer such as oesophagus, colorectum, breast, endometrium and kidney. Diets high in fruits and vegetables may have a protective effect against many cancers. Conversely, excess consumption of red and preserved meat may be associated with an increased risk of colorectal cancer. In addition, healthy eating habits that prevent the development of diet-associated cancers will also lower the risk of cardiovascular disease.
Regular physical activity and the maintenance of a healthy body weight, along with a healthy diet, will considerably reduce cancer risk. National policies and programmes should be implemented to raise awareness and reduce exposure to cancer risk factors, and to ensure that people are provided with the information and support they need to adopt healthy lifestyles.
- WHO global strategy on diet, physical activity and health
Infectious agents are responsible for almost 22% of cancer deaths in the developing world and 6% in industrialized countries. Viral hepatitis B and C cause cancer of the liver; human papilloma virus infection causes cervical cancer; the bacterium Helicobacter pylori increases the risk of stomach cancer. In some countries the parasitic infection schistosomiasis increases the risk of bladder cancer and in other countries the liver fluke increases the risk of cholangiocarcinoma of the bile ducts. Preventive measures include vaccination and prevention of infection and infestation.
- Infectious diseases health topics
Exposure to ionizing radiation is also known to cause to certain cancers. Excessive solar ultraviolet radiation increases the risk of all types of cancer of the skin. Avoiding excessive exposure, use of sunscreen and protective clothing are effective preventive measures.
- Ultraviolet radiation
Asbestos can cause lung cancer; aniline dyes have been linked to bladder cancer; and benzene can lead to leukaemia. The prevention of certain occupational and environmental exposure to these and other chemicals is another important element in preventing cancer.

WHO No Tobacco Day
31 May 2009
On 31st May each year WHO celebrates World No Tobacco Day, highlighting the health risks associated with tobacco use and advocating for effective policies to reduce consumption. Tobacco use is the second cause of death globally and...
is currently responsible for killing one in 10 adults worldwide.
In 2008, the theme of World No Tobacco Day was Tobacco-Free Youth. Young people are aggressively targeted by the tobacco industry which spends billions of dollars each year marketing its products. To protect the world's youth from experimenting with tobacco and becoming regular users, the World No Tobacco Day 2008 campaign called for a ban on all forms of tobacco advertising, promotion and sponsorship.
WHO created World No Tobacco Day in 1987 to draw global attention to the tobacco epidemic and its lethal effects. Tobacco is the number one preventable epidemic that the health community faces.
